little red play - by flashkes

What’s to be done after the end of history? In an attempt to answer this question, director and performer Nicola Nord talked with former and future communists about what remains when you loose a utopia. She called the auto-mobile staging of the documents and material she collected “archive for utopias, lost and found”, which has performed in international festivals in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands

In LITTLE RED (PLAY): ‘HERSTORY’ will be told. In this theatre-production Nicola Nord&Co. will look from the interstellar perspective of the third millennium at the great political utopias and the ideologies of their enemies. Together with her collective andcompany&Co, she constructs a docu-tale of a past which could have been our future. The multi-material stage-animation of Flashkes and Noah Fischer creates a space in the here that gives voice to the experience which follows the silence after the failure of social alternatives. Perhaps this is the moment to imagine and tell new stories…

"little red (play): 'herstory' puts the last great utopias of the 20t century in such a perfectly shaped way on stage for which theatre-makers in big houses usually overdraw the budget for décor and costumes -- and receive cheering reviews in the feuilletons (...) a remarkably intelligent, synaesthetic piece of utopia."
Daniele Muscionico, NZZ, 29.11.2006

LITTLE RED (PLAY ):'HERSTORY' won the NRW KULTURpreis at the festival favoriten 08 -theaterzwang.
the statement of the jury:
"Daring temponauts circulate on the safe turf of a sophisticated philosophy of history.
Musical texture, modules on stage, fragmentary figures coalesce with an agile discourse and theatrical work-out programm. Performance, installation and story-telling theatre all at once, theory becomes practice and the theatre enjoyable in its multifaceted forms. This splintered world-theatre combines high level acting and dramaturgical precision. The effect: collective bliss in the theatre against the background of failed utopias.
